Hi Andy, thank you for this thought-provoking piece — I found it very insightful overall.
One point I’d love to explore further is #5: “You actively keep people in the loop.”
At first, this surprised me, since I’ve always thought that pushing relevant information — especially from someone with broader context or experience — is not just helpful but necessary in many cases.
For example, when you’re in a more senior role, it’s often your responsibility to flag key blind spots, clarify priorities, or connect dots that others might not yet see, especially if they’re stuck or trying to level up. Wouldn’t that qualify as “actively keeping people in the loop”?
I’m curious — do you see a difference between:
- manually pushing scattered updates out of necessity, vs.
- deliberately sharing knowledge to enable others and build alignment?
To me, the issue seems less about the act of pushing itself, and more about whether it’s structured, scalable, and aimed at creating autonomy over time.
Thanks for sharing.
I love your drawings. Really going well with the content :)

Would love to hear your take on this nuance!
